"Tourism and community development" is the theme of this year's Tourism Day. The theme highlights the potential of tourism present opportunities for communities around the world, and the role of communities in the sustainable development of tourism. The official celebration of the festival will take place in Guadalajara in Mexico on September 27, 2014 

This year's theme coincides with the debate on the contribution of tourism to sustainable development objectives / SDGs / - one of the tasks of the United Nations since 2015, which focuses on local participation. 

"Whenever we travel and use local transport or buy products from the local market, we contribute to job creation, care for a living give more opportunities for local communities and definitely create more opportunities for their better future," says the official statement of the Secretary-General Taleb Rifai WTO.
